The experimental sibling to craft beer giant Little Creatures has its own buzzing brewery in South Geelong. Aged ales are the specialty here, and there's a short menu of European-influenced bites to go with them.

A stalwart of the craft beer scene, White Rabbit has been creating experimental brews since 2009 when its first brewery opened in Yarra Valleyโ€™s Healesville. The brand is a spin-off from the Little Creatures team, who wanted to start making beer on the east coast and expand its Fremantle-based craft beer empire.

White Rabbit has since outgrown its original spot and headed to South Geelong. Its Barrel Hall site is a red-bricked industrial space where the walls are lined with barrels of ageing ales and open fermenters. Itโ€™s the place to try all the creations this unconventional beer brand has come up with on its journey from small batch to the big time. A low-key restaurant serves ploughman-style sharing boards, woodfired breads, toasties and salads that balance all that beer.

The classic Belgian-inspired white ale and the richer dark ale are both must-tries, along with more experimental options like the Weisse-ling Sour Ale (made from barrel re-fermented riesling grape skins) and the maltier Chocolate Stout, made with Pana Chocolate organic cacao.
