The High Country Rail Trail weaves its way through the leafier areas of Victoria, making it one of the most relaxing – and healthy – ways to explore the region. The north-east section alone has nearly 300km of easy-to-ride trails, dotted with vibrant towns to break up the trip and refuel. The High Country Rail Trail starts at Wodonga and skirts Lake Hume en route to Shelley Station, a distance of 85km. V-Line trains run from Melbourne and stop at Benalla, Wangaratta, Springhurst, Chiltern and Wodonga.
