Brighton Beach Vibes in the Suburbs
St Martin’s brings a taste of Brighton’s iconic beach boxes to a quiet suburban corner. Designer Claire Larritt-Evans has created a breezy, laid-back space where sandy wood tones, turquoise accents, and bold umbrellas echo the charm of a summer’s day by the sea.
A Family Affair
It’s the passion project of husband-and-wife duo Jim Marinis and Mary-Jane Daffy, former owners of Glovers Station and Little Tommy Tucker. Just six weeks after welcoming their first child, the couple opened St Martin’s in October 2016 — trading in their busier venues for something more intimate and unhurried.
Brunch, Reimagined
Don’t expect the usual brunch clichés here. Co-owner Brett Hobbs and head chef Lachlan Williams lead a kitchen that leans into bold, inventive flavours. Slow-braised beans are topped with a cloud of mozzarella and a spoonful of vivid corn purée, while fried eggs come with sticky braised short rib and a generous pour of chilli caramel.
Creative Plates, Daily Specials
A rotating weekday lunch special keeps things fresh and keeps the chefs on their toes.
Pastry Magic and Thoughtful Details
The pastry cabinet is a highlight, curated by Anthony Hart (ex-Vue de Monde) and Marika Pluta (ex-Burch & Purchese), and filled with beautifully crafted sweets.
Every Sip Considered
Coffee comes from Clark St Roasters, and even the smallest touches are elevated — like the 20 kilograms of CO₂ used each month to keep their sparkling water flowing on tap.
