LOTT Studio & Maekar: Jewelry With Intention
In a light-filled Brunswick workshop, two silversmithsβKari Layton and Sarah Gibsonβcraft fine jewelry that speaks to both craftsmanship and conscience.
Having met as studio mates, the pair bonded over shared values: slow fashion, sustainability, and the use of solid, premium metals onlyβthink sterling silver, nine-carat gold, and the occasional carefully chosen gemstone. In 2015, they joined forces to create a space where visitors could not just browse, but witness the making.
Two Makers, Two Distinct Visions
Gibsonβs pieces are androgynous and architectural, influenced by her background in interior design. Laytonβs lean delicate and textured, shaped by her experience in trend forecasting and a love of independent makers. Different, but entirely complementary. Together, they steer clear of seasonal drops in favour of limited, considered releases throughout the year. Custom commissions and wedding bands are also part of their practiceβeach piece handcrafted, no shortcuts.
Not Just a Store, a Studio
Inside their retail-slash-workshop, every ring, cuff, or necklace comes with a storyβand often, a chance to see it made. Itβs a rare glimpse into a world where jewelry is slow, intentional, and built to last.
