From Fine Dining to Bentleigh’s Best Bakes

David Caillaud and Aymeric Vincent bring solid experience to the table. Between them, they’ve worked as pastry chefs in respected French kitchens, including Paris’s Guy Savoy and the Carlton in Cannes.

A Quiet Corner for Quality Pastries

In early 2021, the two friends opened Artisanal Bakehouse on Centre Road in Bentleigh. It’s a small, understated spotβ€”marked mainly by a royal blue doorβ€”that quietly turns out some of the area’s most well-made pastries.

Cinnamon Scrolls and a Standout Croissant

The bakery first drew attention for its cinnamon scrolls, which strike a nice balance: crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy inside. But the croissants deserve just as much recognition. The classic and pain au chocolat are both excellent, but the garlic version stands out. It’s made with a butter infused with garlic and parsley, giving the pastry a savoury richness that’s worth seeking out. They often sell out on weekends, so going early is a good idea.

More Than Just Pastries

You’ll also find coffee from St Ali, plus a selection of quiches, pies, baguettes, and sourdough loaves. And if there’s an apple turnover in the display, it’s well worth trying.
