Stay in one of seven vintage American-made caravans flanked by lush vineyards. It’s a short stroll to the winery’s hotel and day spa, and its unmissable farm-to-table restaurant, The Muse.

Mitchelton Winery’s most striking feature is undeniably its grand, 55-metre tower, looming large over the thriving plots of chardonnay, shiraz and cabernet sauvignon vines. But tucked away on the property between the vineyards and the Goulburn River, is another arresting sight: a fleet of seven gleaming Airstream caravans – a retro addition to the winery’s luxe range of accommodation options.

Each RV has been rejigged with luxe modern conveniences: an ensuite, TV, designer linen and wi-fi access. Serene views of the surrounding vineyards can be had from the spacious covered deck, where kangaroos and emus frequent at dusk and the stars are spectacular on a crisp, clear night.

Rates include a deluxe breakfast hamper each morning, in addition to the complimentary mini-bar stocked with gourmet snacks, water and soft drinks. For dinner (or a long, luxurious lunch), the winery’s farm-to-table restaurant, The Muse, is close at hand.

Equally close are the winery’s hotel facilities. Guests are invited to take advantage of rejuvenating treatments at the hotel spa, or tour the on-site gallery, which houses one of the largest collections of Aboriginal art in Australia.

But for the full experience, book a tasting at Mitchelton’s award-winning cellar door. Then, take a bottle of your favourite drop back to your private RV and soak up the sunset.
