Suzie Pavlov and her husband Richard have transformed the former Toby’s Estate Warehouse into Brunswick Foodstore, an all-encompassing cafe that sells an impressive array of condiments, coffee and items for your pantry.
Green chairs and polished floorboards offset the corrugated iron walls and, proudly occupying the far corner, is a 40 kilogram Toper Roaster. This may be a food store, but these guys are serious about coffee. The house blend, dubbed Woolloomooloo, is smooth and spicy. They also offer five other single-origin alternatives.
The Middle Eastern inspired menu spans from toasted muesli with fresh strawberries and orange blossom yogurt to ful mudammas – a hearty Egyptian bean dish. A vintage cabinet displays an array of products used in their dishes, so you can take home the ingredients to recreate your favourite deli dish.
