This Swan Hill go-to serves up brunch classics with a touch of city-style flair, plus plenty of farm-fresh ingredients from Bahram and beyond.

Cafe 202 is the kind of small town cafe a city dweller could sniff out in a heartbeat. They’d recognise the name of the big brand coffee roaster on-grind (Allpress), or gravitate towards the smart, modern interiors decked out with monstera and native flower arrangements.

The reality is, it’s ticked a big box for Swan Hill as well. Locals roll up in droves for the Allpress coffee and simple, creatively-plated brunch classics. Various sandwiches come loaded with smoked salmon or turkey and choose-your-own filling toasties round out the lunch offering.

The kitchen brings in as much local produce as possible. It rips through kilos of creamy avocado from nearby Barham Avocodos; smashed on top of thick-cut sourdough. Citrus from Kingfisher Farms winds up in fresh-squeezed juices.

People on the street hanging out for a table are a giveaway for finding this bustling joint, especially if you’re looking for it on a weekend. And being right in the centre of town, its not far from the river, which means you can forgo the bustle and walk some takeaway over to nearby Riverside park and watch the Murray glide by.
