Quintessentially Sydney label camilla and marc’s first local outpost is suitably glamorous, but with a subtle Melbourne touch. The brainchild of the Freeman siblings, Camilla and Marc, the brand is a quintessentially Sydney label known for cocktail dresses and impeccable tailoring. But any misgivings that things are not quite Melbourne enough are discarded once you walk in the door.
The look is clean and sparse with white, timber-panelled walls and polished concrete floors, brass racks lining the walls and travertine bench tops. The space is meant for lingering; those bare white walls play host to rotating art, campaign images and collaborations, while the designers’ own vintage magazines and design books are scattered around. Stop in to pick up one of the label’s signature dresses or expertly tailored blazers, easily topped off by in-house accessories and a selection of jewellery including pieces from cult New Yorker Pamela Love. camilla and marc is a welcome addition to Melbourne’s retail scene, showcasing sophisticated and luxurious homegrown talent.
