Clothing the Gaps is an Aboriginal-led label and social-activist platform selling unisex streetwear, jewellery, accessories, gifts and more. Launching online in 2020, the label quickly took Melbourne by storm, opening its Brunswick flagship in 2021 and its Northcote bricks-and-mortar, both on the lands of the Wurundjeri people, in 2022.
At the Northcote store, expect its bestselling unisex streetwear like T-shirts, singlets, caps, sweat pants, hoodies and beanies, as well as the label’s activism posters, stickers, water bottles and more. The ally-friendly Honouring Country collection, printed with impactful statements like “Tread Lightly” and “Sovereign Land”, is designed for non-Indigenous allies to wear in support of First Nations people.
There’s also a full range of accessories from The Koorie Circle – co-founder and Gunditjmara woman Laura Thompson’s jewellery label. The Koorie Circle sells jewellery and accessories that celebrate the culture, history and identity of Aboriginal Australia. You might find dangly serpent earrings, studs with Aboriginal flags or mini boomerangs, scrunchies, tote bags and more.
