This casual Italian joint has a fit-out reminiscent of the all-you-can-eat pizza joints of the ’90s. While it's not a classic buffet, the pizzas are worth your pennies – from classic capricciosa to a burrata-laden pie.
Compass is a neighbourhood pizza set in the former home of La Bussola. Its glossy brown bricks, wrought-iron gates and wood fire are all heritage Brunswick.
The pizza list looks much as it would have in the 1970s, with a few modern twists thrown in. Capricciosa and marinara are familiar favourites, while the veg-friendly Green Goat is topped with a pesto base, zucchini, broccoli, rocket and goat’s cheese. Other mains include prawn and guanciale spaghetti, vodka-chilli orrechiette, and a house parmigiana.
Neon red lights and an open pizza kitchen create a distinct party vibe. This is aided by a selection of local beers, such as Balter, and Australian-Italian varietal wines.
