A Minimalist Café Celebrating Asian Flavours
Coracle is a bright, minimalist café serving a menu inspired by Asian flavours, alongside Vietnamese coffee, Japanese matcha and hojicha, and espresso from Small Batch. It’s run by husband-and-wife team Tam Duong and Tat Ying Wong (who go by Jane and Benny), both hospitality veterans. They opened Coracle to celebrate the food they grew up with in Vietnam and Hong Kong.
A Kitchen Led by Heritage and Heart
Jane and Benny also lead the kitchen, crafting a menu influenced by Japanese, Taiwanese and Korean cuisines. In the mornings, you can enjoy a traditional Japanese asagohan breakfast — a beautifully arranged set with seasonal grilled fish, rice, pickled vegetables, soup, tea, and rotating sides like taro chips, gyoza, or pumpkin puree. Or try the comforting Hong Kong-style congee, topped with sliced barramundi.
Lunch with a Contemporary Twist
At lunch, favourites include the kaisen don (a sashimi rice bowl), brothless ramen, and Korean bibimbap with Wagyu bulgogi. There are also grab-and-go options like creative toasties — for example, scrambled eggs with miso butter, relish and cheese.
Vietnamese Coffee and Thoughtful Drinks
For drinks, Jane recommends the hot Vietnamese coffee, brewed in a phin filter using a method passed down from her father. It’s blended with coconut milk for a creamy finish and served with black tea to cleanse the palate. You’ll also find Vietnamese iced coffee, matcha and hojicha lattes made with Japanese-imported ingredients, and espresso from Small Batch.
