Where Milan Meets Melbourne

The CBD sibling of Rinaldo Di Stasio’s iconic St Kilda institution is more than a restaurantβ€”it’s an experience. Di Stasio CittΓ  blends hand-made pasta with high art inside a brutalist masterpiece. With video installations and striking contemporary works, dining here feels like stepping into a Milanese gallery with a Melbourne soul.

A Return Decades in the Making

When Di Stasio CittΓ  opened in 2019, it marked Rinaldo’s return to the city after decades by the coast. From Rosati on Flinders Lane in the β€˜80s to the legendary CafΓ© Di Stasio in St Kilda, this was the homecoming Melbourne didn’t know it needed.

The Menu is a Masterclass in Restraint

Many favourites made the trip up from the seasideβ€”like the Merenda: a foil-wrapped veal schnitzel sandwich, crusts off, nostalgic and perfect. Expect house-made capellini with hunks of crab, veal saltimbocca, paccheri Bolognese, and grilled radicchio with lemon and oil. Parmesan is offered, but rarely requiredβ€”this kitchen understands seasoning.

Architecture That Commands Attention

Designed by Hassell Studio, the space channels Milanese grandeur with Melbourne edge. Brutalist lines meet warm hospitality. Rinaldo loves that people call it artβ€”but more importantly, it’s a place to stay, talk, drink, and forget the time.
