This florist cafe is a double threat. Come for a creative, floral-themed breakfast, then grab some fresh cut flowers on your way out.

Flovie is a charming lavender-hued florist cafe just near the University of Melbourne.

Dishes on the Asian-influenced breakfast and lunch menus are eye-catching and floral-themed. Take the Thai Petal Salad: an assortment of seasonal veggies, glass noodles and papaya topped with Thai chilli dressing and crisp tofu – all served in a purple rice-paper bowl. Brunch standards such as smashed avo and Eggs Benedict also come garnished with an array of edible flowers.

The photogenic drink list is sprinkled with unique options, from the Butterfly Pea Tea Latte – a floral-infused herbal tea that’s brewed with a salty-sweet blend of vanilla, sea salt and soy milk – to a house-made strawberry and rose Mimosa.

Equal attention is paid to the flowers on sale. There’s a great range of fresh cut flowers and bouquets to choose from, at a range of different price points. Grand flower garlands and dried foliage hang in almost every corner. Muted antiques – candle chandeliers, pendant lighting and an old German-made piano – make up the rest of the fit-out.

Up the wooden staircase, you’ll find a lofty function space with a high ceiling, two large crystal chandeliers and French-inspired black and white styling.
