TL;DR

A Hidden Gem by the Yarra

Drawn in by the morning light filtering through Yarra Bend Park’s native trees, Megan Phillis and James Meehan were instantly taken with the β€œempty shell” they discovered in nearby Acacia Place. The duo – known for Cafe Italia, Hoy Pinoy and The Meatball Company – transformed the space into Frankie Says, a refined all-day cafΓ© tucked behind an apartment block on the quieter, Scandinavian-flavoured stretch of Victoria Street, just across from IKEA.

Designed for Calm and Comfort

Now a serene riverside retreat, the space features floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors, whitewashed panelling and tabletops made from 100-year-old oak – all crafted to bring their design vision of relaxation to life.

Unforgettable Breakfasts and Italian-Inspired Lunches

Breakfast is far from ordinary. The standout is a whole-pan buttermilk pancake, baked in the pizza oven and topped with whipped vanilla-bean mascarpone, berries and crunchy breakfast seeds. Sides include maple-glazed Kaiser bacon and a hash brown with melted taleggio. Lunch leans Italian with crisp, stone-oven pizzas, antipasto boards and burgers.

A Sip to Match the Setting

Cleanse your palate with a glass of prosecco, or settle in with something from the curated wine list.
