What used to be the Rose Upstairs is now Harry & Frankie Fitzroy – a north-side iteration of Tom Hogan and John Tennent’s Port Melbourne wine bar.
The space is light and bright, with dark floors, white walls, and a long, J-shaped timber bar that curls down the left side of the room and around into the centre. A smaller room to the right has a large communal table and floor-to-ceiling wine racks. French doors near the top of the stairs lead to an outdoor terrace.
Like at Port Melbourne, there’s a changing by-the-glass list, and bottles can be selected from the shelves. There’s also beer, cider and a solid list of spirits, fortifieds, apéritifs and digestifs.
There are two nightly mains offered, and snacks such as pate; salmon gravlax with tapioca crisps; beef tartare; and a range of cheese and charcuterie.
Bottles of wine can also be selected from here and consumed downstairs in the footy-focused pub.
