The Mornington Peninsula is known for its laidback lifestyle and atmosphere. It’s no surprise that Herman Store reflects this ethos exactly.
Karina Babanine became owner in September 2015. Her taste reflects the relaxed boho-lifestyle you’ll find on the Peninsula, with a taste of Melbourne street style in the mix too.
Herman receives new stock fortnightly. Expect apparel from Magali Pascal; Zimmermann’s silk ruffle tops in black and cream; and plenty from Bassike. For casual wear, there’s dresses from Faithfull the Brand and Auguste; denim jeans and shorts from Nobody Denim; and pieces from Sample the label and Assembly.
No outfit would be complete without accessories to match. Herman stocks leather bags from Dylan Kain, and black leather belts from The Lair. Eyewear is also taken seriously, by way of Karen Walker and Le Specs Luxe. Match these with handmade jewellery from local brand, Lacie, which uses silver and boulder opals.
There’s a large macramé wall piece from Bali hanging behind the counter, and pot plants throughout the store. The store offers on-the-spot styling advice, and private styling sessions with Babanine herself.
