Le louvre’s next chapter

Le Louvre, one of Melbourne’s most iconic old-school retailers, moved on from its historic home of over 80 years in 2010, relocating to a sleek new space south of the Yarra.

Heritage meets high fashion

Bold fluoro pink accents dominate the fit-out, while mirrored and glass staircases form a dramatic architectural centrepieceβ€”an elegant clash of classic heritage and modern design. Street-style flair comes via graffiti by artist Dan Wennβ€”perhaps a touch overt in its bid for cool, but it adds a layer of irony to browsing high-fashion pieces from the likes of Galliano, Lanvin, and Giles Deacon.

Off-strip, on-point

Though its Daly Street address sits slightly off the main Chapel Street strip, Le Louvre’s impeccable curation of top-tier designers more than makes up for it. And when you’ve been setting the standard for this long, being a little off the beaten path just feels like the next bold move in defining what’s fashionable for the future.
