Le Shoppe is a stylish European deli, and the daytime counterpart to its adjoined neighbour, Scott Pickett’s Chancery Lane.

Fitted with rich green subway tiles, American oak, copper fixtures and opulent floral arrangements, this corner store and eatery has the same timeless elegance as the bistro next door. It’s mainly a takeaway venue, but there are four booths if you want to settle in, or you can nab one of the standing spots.

The all-day menu features a rotating selection of salads and sandwiches. If having in, choose light, French-style bites such as quiche Lorraine and crepes suzette, plus pastries by Ned’s and baked goods made in-house. In homage to the airport’s Pickett’s Deli and Rotisserie, Le Shoppe serves one of the restaurant’s signature dishes: Mr P’s egg and bacon roll with brown sauce.

For those after grab-and-go, there are sandwiches with fillings such as curried egg, and smoked salmon and cucumber. Salads might include tuna niçoise, and quinoa and broccoli. The roast “roll du jour” alternates – and often sells out – daily, with combinations like roast chicken, iceberg and salsa verde; roast lamb shoulder with harissa, rocket and tahini yoghurt; and more.

The gourmet grocery section has everything you need to recreate happy hour at home – from Portuguese sardines to Italian sodas, French crisps and fresh baguettes. Look to the window filled with hanging cured meats to see the charcuterie, which is cut to order.
