Deep in the corporate sector of Docklands, decent food and coffee with soul is a sight for sore eyes. Long Shot has opened its doors to feed and caffeinate the needy workers.

Under the expert guidance of Shaun Quade (formerly of Urbane in Brisbane and The Royal Mail Hotel, Dunkeld) and Jo Barrett (of the now defunct MoVida Bakery), the focus of Long Shot is artisan made breads, pastries, bottled fermented sodas, flavoured milks, gourmet sandwiches and freshly tossed salads (all of which are made in-house), with specialty coffee by St Ali.

Grab and go with a cinnamon scroll, apple pie donut, or oversized muffin and a coffee by head barista Joshua Willis (previously of Proud Mary), or stay a while in the cosy, bright cafe, lingering over a gluten-free, housemade cereal of activated seeds and nuts with ice cold Elgaar Farm milk.

At lunch there’s a concise selection of organic Verget Provence wine (by the glass or bottle) and warm dishes such as the quiche of the day or a cassoulet of merguez sausage, soft cooked egg and persillade.
