Not Your Average Golf Club Café
Ringwood Golf Club, tucked away in Melbourne’s outer east, might not seem like the obvious place for a buzzing cafe, but Mister Fox is far from your typical golfer’s hangout.
Sunlit Interiors and Playful Design
Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows offer sweeping views of the lush green course, letting in plenty of fresh air and natural light. The interior features sleek grey furnishings, accented with bursts of bright aqua from teapots, outdoor seating, and even golf clubs mounted on the walls. Greenery is scattered throughout in the form of potted plants and flower arrangements.
A Crowd That Shifts With the Week
Weekdays tend to attract an older crowd, particularly retirees grabbing a bite before their round, but weekends bring a more mixed group. Mister Fox appeals to all ages with a menu that includes bacon, eggs, hash browns, and baked beans, along with classics like burgers and steak sandwiches.
Comfort Food and Sweet Indulgences
There’s also a solid range of paninis and sweet treats — the Nutella ice-cream sandwich, in particular, reinforces the belief that Nutella makes everything better. A selection of wines and local craft beers is also on offer.
Seriously Local Sourcing
Unlike many cafes that talk up local sourcing, Mister Fox follows through — produce is supplied by local farmer Wayne Jeffery, and some vegetables even come from a nearby kindergarten’s garden, maintained by kids at Greenwood Park Kinder.
A Scenic Spot Worth Returning To
The menu isn’t revolutionary, but it covers all the crowd-pleasers and is reasonably priced. In the end, it’s the beautiful setting that keeps locals coming back for a relaxed and scenic lunch spot.
