The Napoleone family, famous for making Punt Road Wines, was growing apples before it was growing grapes. At its family-friendly Yarra Valley cider bar, you can try its own ciders (made using estate-grown fruit), cider flights and cider-driven cocktails (go for the standout Orchard Bar Spritz), along with local beers and wines.
International ciders get a look in, too, and might include a spicy lo-fi Cidrerie du Leguer BrutBrut from France, or a zingy Pomona from UK-based Fine Cider Company.
On weekends, it occasionally hosts a rotating roster of food trucks. While a small snack menu of miso-spiked nuts and chips accompanies the ciders and cocktails. Otherwise, you can build your own picnic from the Punt Road Wines picnic pantry, which is stocked with Stone and Crow cheese, City Larder charcuterie, Cunliffe & Waters preserves, and more
The driveway to the bar takes you past rows and rows of apple trees. The Napoleone Orchard Bar is housed in a retrofitted shipping container, which is lined with American oak and wrapped by a sun-drenched terrace.
