Apples, orchards and alpine air

Surrounded by rows of apple trees, this spacious shed serves as the farmgate for the Nightingale family’s orchards and also showcases a range of oils, preserves, and goods from local producers. The Nightingales have been growing crisp apples in the lush Wandiligong valley since 1954. Today, they manage five orchardsβ€”two in Wandiligong, one in the Buckland Valley near Mount Buffalo, one in Stanley, and another in Batlow, NSWβ€”spanning 240 hectares dedicated to apples. They also grow chestnuts on 160 hectares and persimmons on two.


Cider, juice and fresh-picked fruit

At the farmgate, you’ll find almost every variety of apple imaginable: Jazz, Granny Smith, Kanzi, Envy, Royal Gala, Honey Crisp, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Bonza, Fuji, and Pink Lady. The Pink Lady is also used in a dry or sweet cider, as well as in a sparkling apple juice. The range includes still apple juice too, alongside Beechworth Honey’s sparkling drinks and jars of their honey.


Local favourites and pantry staples

Local produce lines the shelvesβ€”jams from Bright Berry Farm, oils from EV Olives in Markwood, Wreap muesli from Porepunkah, seeds from Pumpkin Seeds Australia, and kasundi, chutneys, and jams from Granny’s Pantry. You’ll also find Gundowring ice cream and biodynamic pastured eggs from Wandiful Produce.


Regional flavours and frozen berries
