There aren’t too many bars around that can claim a roaring daytime trade. But Peachy’s is certainly one of them. This peach-coloured boozer and burger bar sits plumb on Campbell street, making it a prime spot for a lunchtime burger, or an aperitivo hour cocktail if you’re in the Swan Hill CBD.
And where many places in town offer menus laden with all things local; what you’ll find here may as well have jumped out of the Murray and into your burger bun. The Big Cod burger is the house specialty, hands down. It’s a thick, beer-battered fillet of locally-farmed cod topped with lettuce, cheese, pickles, jalapeno and lashings of dill tartare sauce.
There are various fried chicken and beef burger options. You might find a hunk of buttermilk fried bird on a bun with pickles, slaw and so-called spicy dust. Or a 16-hour smoked brisket number loaded with classic Texas-style accoutrements. On the snacks front; try a snag bao or one of the taco specials with seasonal fillings. There’s also a twice-cooked pork belly sourced from Barham down the highway.
Signature drinks include the Peachy’s Dream with vanilla vodka, peach schnapps, peach and lime juice. It’s a fun riff on the name, to go with a couple all-time classic cocktails you’ll surely know. Grab one of those (or something fruity from the shot list), and settle in at the high bench beneath the neon peach sign.
