Behind arched windows and an egg blue facade, this cosy cafe serves six-inch cakes, toasties, chicken baguettes and salads. Nab a spot on the lawn out the front, or at one of its outdoor tables under a very-French umbrella.

Petite is the younger sister to Matilda, a cherished neighbourhood cafe. The cosy takeaway-only spot has an inviting sky blue façade and French-inspired interiors.

Celebration cakes fly off the shelf here. Each week, the six-inch sweets are available in different flavours to promptly order and take home, including gluten-free and vegan options. For food, there’s a chicken baguette and rotating daily toasties like the mushroom, pesto and goat cheese and the Matilda toastie, which includes pumpkin, kale, onion jam and vegan feta – all made with bread from Cobb Lane.

There are also salads, an acai bowl, overnight oats, fresh-squeezed orange juice made in-house and a selection of smoothies. Plus, a section of the menu is titled “For the Dog” with toasted scraps (to help with food waste) and puppy-chinos.
