Section 8 is raw, but thatโs its charm. Thereโs really nothing to it โ they cut out a hole in the side of a shipping container, added a bar top and some booze, stacked some wooden shipping palettes for seats, and dropped it all in one of Chinatownโs empty parking lots. The result is ostensibly a great city beer garden.
Just about everything in the bar is constructed using recycled industrial materials, with warmth and festivity provided by red lanterns, street art and some potted greenery. There is a diverse list of imported beers, several fantastic house-created cocktails and a brief wine list.
If the weather is inclement, you can go next door to the ownerโs other bar, Ferdydurke, but on a hot night, drinking a beer at Section 8 can make you feel as though you are in South East Asia, or at least a spontaneous junkyard party. Section 8 is proof that a good bar is made by a feeling.
