For a quick bowl of comforting, home-style broth and noodles – look no further. Start with the iconic bao before moving to the tight yet complex ramen menu. Standouts include the shoyu, tantanmen and veg miso. They all go down nicely with an ice-cold beer.

Shop Ramen serves genuine, home-style soup, with delicate wheat noodles in different tasty broths. Owners Pat Breen and Lydia Wegner perfected their recipes over several study trips to Japan.

The menu lists steaming bowls of Tokyo-style ramen, which use a broth brewed from chicken-bones. On top: a slice of free-range grass-fed pork, sliced spring onion and a soft boiled egg. Or, for those who are meat-free, there’s a vegetarian ramen with pepitas, tofu with black wakame, raw zucchini, lightly blanched broccoli, pickled shitake mushrooms and feathers of dried chilli in a cashew milk broth.

Don’t forget to also try the restaurant’s selection of buns, including the pork belly and pickle, which is tart, crunchy and gooey-sweet.
