Within the striking bluestone Ormond Hall, discover an eclectic suite of photogenic garden bars and luxe events spaces. Do a long prix fixe lunch in the lush Rosé Garden, or hit the casual beer garden for pub-style counter meals, craft beer and spritzes.

As a single venue, the vastness of Ormond Hall is perhaps best suited to its original 1891 design as a grand auditorium for music and theatre. Now, under the stewardship of The Big Group (The Glasshouse, Luminare and more), the heritage-listed art deco building has been thoughtfully segmented into nine unique spaces, ranging from public garden bars to lavish private event rooms.

Most of the Commons Collective is reserved for events, but everyday visitors can choose between two lush, 400-capacity bars. Both focus heavily on the surrounding gardens, and were designed by renowned landscape designer Paul Bangay to create a photogenic inner-city oasis.

The Beer Garden is geared towards craft beer, spritzes and casual pub-style fare. From the counter-service menu you might order the house beef burger, lamb gyros or a classic fish’n’chips. Grazing boards and beer-friendly snacks round out the selection.

Alternatively, the Rosé Garden is a more elegant space for long lunches and spring-inspired cocktails. A menu by group executive chef Neil Rocke is served prix fixe style, offering either two or three courses – choose from lighter Italian options such as heirloom tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad, or a pasta di Positano with zucchini and a hint of chilli. For dessert, it might be a classic Eton mess with vanilla bean ice-cream and seasonal fruit.

The Rosé Garden is closed from late-April until spring. Bar Moubray will reopen during winter.
