Lucy Folk has attracted a loyal following for designs that blend luxury with bold colour, texture and a bit of quirk. She began with jewellery inspired by food, such as pretzels and corn chips.
A decade after launching in Melbourne, Folk opened a candy-coloured boutique in Bondi, Sydney. The store, Playa by Lucy Folk, marked a new direction for the designer; it stocks other fashion and accessory labels alongside her own.
Then a Christmas-time Lucy Folk Salon pop-up at the end of 2017 selling the Player Store gear in Windsor was made permanent in 2018.
Shoppers will find Folk’s playful jewellery, sunglasses, clutches, hair accessories, hats and socks from her Basket case collection.
As at Playa, the Salon stocks a number of other labels and products, including towel clutches by Lalla, swimwear by Marysia, summer scarves by Epice, and clothing by Lemaire. Lucy Folk Apparel is all hand-loomed by artisans at a small atelier in Marrakech.
The space is filled with hand-woven baskets from Pan After to bring the vibe, colours and energy of the Medina in Marrakesh to Melbourne.
