A Taste of Kerala, Reimagined in Melbourne

Toddy Shop is Mischa Tropp’s tribute to the spirited, soul-warming food culture of Kerala’s famous drinking dens. What began as an intimate 24-seater has grown into a 54-seat local favourite, now welcoming diners into its lively indoor space and relaxed new outdoor courtyard.

Where South Indian Roots Meet Melbourne Energy

Co-founded by Tropp (ex-Rochester Hotel, We Are Kerala) and Michael Mabuti (Kariton Sorbetes, Askal), Toddy Shop is more than just a restaurantβ€”it’s a cultural space. A place where Melbourne’s south Indian community can feel seen, and where everyone is invited to dig in and discover something bold and full of heart.

A Space That Feels Like Family

With dusty-pink and sage-green walls, family portraits, a record player spinning Indian disco, and the warm hum of conversation, the venue feels less like a restaurant and more like a celebration. It’s casual, colourful, and unapologetically personalβ€”much like the food itself.
