A modern, airy cafe set against a Scandinavian-influenced backdrop.

Sitting on the corner of Queens Parade and Delbridge, two:bob brings an element of Scandinavian modernism to North Fitzroy/Clifton Hill. The space, which was once a rather sombre and serious bank, has been transformed via a palette of soft, muted white and cream tones, timber, ceramics and greenery throughout. Conceived by local design dynamos DesignOffice, the owner’s vision for a light-filled and relaxed environment with a strong feeling of community has been made a reality.

Like its interior, the food at two:bob is about freshness and simplicity. The menu uses local ingredients in dishes such as crumbed eggs with asparagus, salmon, herbs and pine nuts; baked miso ocean trout with soba noodle; Asian coleslaw; and wholegrain porridge with caramelised pineapple and coconut milk. The smooth coffee is by Coffee Supreme.

Set at one end of this busy village strip near fruit shops, bakeries and small boutiques, two:bob feels right at home in Fitzroy North … near the action, but quietly off to the side.
